Fairmont Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, P.A. was founded on July 1, 1990 by Corey T. Welchlin, D.O., the first Orthopedic Surgeon to live and practice in the Fairmont region. Dr. Welchlin saw a need to bring quality orthopedic care to Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa. When setting up his practice Dr. Welchlin decided to offer patients the convenience of an Open Sided MRI, as well as an ambulatory surgery center at South Central Surgical Center that provides outpatient surgery services to many patients from communities throughout our region. In December of 2000 it became necessary to offer additional specialty services in the area. As a result, rheumatology and other providers were added to the specialty services offered by Fairmont Orthopedics and Sports Medicine P.A . A name change was in order, thus it was decided to transition into the Center for Specialty Care, which informed people we offered not only quality orthopedic care but other specialties as well. Our organization is comprised of physicians, physician assistants, family nurse practitioners, nurses, clinical assistants, and physical therapists, as well as friendly and helpful reception, scheduling, medical records and administration staff.
